CIBC Foundation makes STEAM possible at PASS

We are grateful to the CIBC Foundation for its support of new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) programming at PALS Adult Services Society.

To create social and economic opportunities for all, CIBC invests in projects increasing access to education and employment outcomes for underserved communities, with a focus on reskilling, upskilling, and addressing the digital divide.

Families and participants have consistently shared a strong interest in expanding digital learning opportunities at PASS. With support from the CIBC Foundation, this new STEAM class will respond directly to that need by integrating:

  • Science concepts such as motion and gravity through experiments and real-world applications

  • Technology skills, including introductory coding using beginner-friendly platforms

  • Engineering through hands-on construction, simple machines, and basic robotics

  • Arts through creative digital and physical projects using tablets and traditional materials

  • Mathematics through interactive puzzles and pattern-based activities

By using the Skills for Success Canada framework—particularly the Digital and Innovation skill areas—the STEAM program will help participants develop practical, transferable skills such as communication, collaboration, and problem-solving. These skills support greater independence and open doors to future vocational and educational opportunities.
